WiSER is pleased to announce its 2022/2023 Executive Committee, which consists of 25 members from academia, not-for-profit, and industry. They will be directly involved in the planning and execution of WiSER’s activities.
WiSER hosted its annual general meeting on May 16, 2022, in which members of the Executive Committee were elected. Co-Chairs Noor Al-Zanoon and Ali Chou continued their second term in leading the Committee.
Along with the Co-Chairs, other Executive positions on the Committee include Treasurer, Secretary, Mentorship Program Leads, Event Leads, Sponsorship Managers, Volunteer Coordinators, and Communications Managers. Mentors-in-Residence were directly appointed by the Co-Chairs.
“I am honoured to serve on the Committee as the Co-Chair,” says Chou, who is a Research Scientist at X-Chem in Massachusetts, USA, and will oversee the Executive Committee remotely for 2022/2023. “WiSER is always striving to find ways to support women and underrepresented individuals in STEM fields. This is important in building a diverse talent pool and forging a sustainable innovation ecosystem in Alberta.”
I can’t wait to see what our amazing executive team accomplishes next. We have so much great programming planned to support women and gender diverse individuals in STEM,” says Noor Al-Zanoon, talent program coordinator at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute and current PhD student at the University of Alberta.
