We are excited to welcome Anjum Mullick as our keynote speaker.
Anjum Mullick is the Director of Engineering Services at the City of Edmonton, and has 18 years of broad project management and environmental engineering experience in the private sector. She has an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Alberta and a B.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Prior to joining the City of Edmonton, she was the Director of Decommissioning and Closure for the Americas at WorleyParsons/Advisian. Anjum has lead, managed, and successfully executed large, complex and ground breaking, politically sensitive projects primarily in the oil sands, which ranged from $100-$400 million. As a former member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta Environmental Committee, she has worked with both industry stakeholders and government organizations to develop environmental policy and guidelines. Anjum was also a member of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers’ Canadian Engineering Qualifications Board Environment and Sustainability Committee to develop a National Practice Guideline on Environmental Site Remediation, and is currently a board member of the Alberta Environmental Appeals Board.
Anjum has a passion for diversity and inclusion, in particular, increasing the number of women in not only engineering and science related professions, but in leadership. She was the President of the Women of WorleyParsons, an employee resource group with the vision to support the recruitment, retention and promotion of women in the industry. As the President, she developed and lead a joint partnership project with the Canadian Centre for Women in Science, Engineering, Trades and Technology and the University of Alberta School of Business to examine organizational change as it relates to women in leadership and gender diversity and inclusivity. Now part of her Department’s Leadership Team at the City of Edmonton, she chairs the Department’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and is co-chairing the upcoming Canadian Coalition of Women in Engineering, Science, Trades and Technology biennial conference being held in Edmonton next year.
